Two PI Training Program recipients were selected for the FOREST (Fusion Oriented REsearch for disruptive Science and Technology) program.
PI Training Program recipients Dr. Yu Muta (Kyoto University) and Dr. Kimitoshi Kimura (Kyoto University) have been selected for the “5th FOREST Program”.
Following Dr. Atsushi Mitsuhashi (University of Tokushima) in the previous fiscal year, a total of three researchers from the PI Training Program (nine recipients ) have been selected for the FOREST Program (the selection rate for the 1st to 4th programs was approximately 10%, which is a very narrow selection gate).

About FOREST
In order to promote FOREST (Fusion Oriented REsearch for disruptive Science and Technology) program aiming to create seeds that lead to disruptive innovation through diversity and fusion without setting specific projects or short-term goals, this program provides long-term support for unrestricted, challenging and fusion-oriented diverse research not bound by the existing frameworks, for the period of seven years in principle (up to 10 years with an interim stage-gate review) while securing an environment in which researchers can devote themselves to their researches.

Osaka-Kansai Expo 'Science Exhibition: Connecting with Me and the Future'

Period | August 14, 2025 (Thursday) - August 19, 2025 (Tuesday)

Venue | Osaka-Kansai Expo Venue (Yumeshima) EXPO Messe "WASSE"

The National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center participated in the interactive exhibition event “Science Connecting Me and the Future” (hosted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) held at the Osaka-Kansai Expo site. Over the six-day event period, we shared the outcomes of our research project utilizing transparent fish (official name: Danionella cerebrum) with a total of 25,000 booth visitors.

This event aimed to create opportunities for the generation that will shape the future to personally engage with society's challenges, become protagonists in their own right, and contemplate “what kind of society they want to build for the future” by physically experiencing the future society envisioned by science. This exhibition provided visitors with the opportunity to directly observe actual transparent fish specimens. Furthermore, researchers conducted live demonstrations using.
