We exhibited at BioJapan, which was held at PACIFICO YOKOHAMA from October 8^th to 10^th.
Osaka Prefecture, National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center, and COI-NEXT jointly exhibited, introducing the Kento Imaging Support Center and presenting the COI-NEXT Program.

Osaka-Kansai Expo “Science Exhibition: Connecting with Me and the Future” We exhibited at this event.

The National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center participated in the interactive exhibition event “Science Connecting Me and the Future” (hosted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) held at the Osaka-Kansai Expo site. Over the six-day event period, we shared the outcomes of our research project utilizing transparent fish (official name: Danionella cerebrum) with a total of 25,000 booth visitors.

This event aimed to create opportunities for the generation that will shape the future to personally engage with society’s challenges, become protagonists in their own right, and contemplate “what kind of society they want to build for the future” by physically experiencing the future society envisioned by science. This exhibition provided visitors with the opportunity to directly observe actual transparent fish specimens. Furthermore, researchers conducted live demonstrations using.

Report on the Startup Support Seminar [5th]

On Wednesday, February 19^th, we held the 5^th Startup Support Seminar. This time, we had a lecture by Daisuke Morishita of Chordia Therapeutics Inc., titled "The Reality of Listing a Drug Discovery Startup".
From his perspective as an experienced entrepreneur, he discussed the reality of listing a drug discovery startup, discussing the difficulties and issues unique to drug discovery startups.

Report on the Startup Support Seminar [Special Edition]

On Monday, February 17^th, we held the "Startup Support Seminar [Special Edition]". This time, the seminar was titled "Hybrid Seminar for the Application of AI in the life science sector," and speakers gave presentations on the current state and challenges of AI use, as well as implementation examples. We would like to thank the many people who participated both in person and online.

EXPO 2025 pre-event " Science : Connecting You to the Future. "

We exhibited at the Osaka Kansai EXPO Pre-Event "Connecting You to the Future, Science Exhibition" (Tokyo Innovation Base), held from February 13^th to 16^th. At our base, we exhibited Danionella cerebrum handled by the Kento Imaging Support Center and the National Cardiovascular Center Department of Cardiac Regeneration Biology, entitled "The New World of Microscopic Imaging: Danionella cerebrum".
Many people, including families and base personnel, stopped by to see the exhibit.
The actual event will be held from August 14th to 19th at the EXPO Messe (Yumeshima) in the Osaka Kansai EXPO site.

Report on the PI Development Program Progress Report General Meeting

On Tuesday, January 14^th, the nine PI Development Program recipients, organizers, and recommenders gathered on-site to hold a progress report meeting (general meeting).The organizers gave advice to each recipient‘s presentation, and lively discussions were held.
This time, there was also advice from two recipients of the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) and the Japan Advanced Research and Development Agency (AMED-PRIME) programs, and the discussion was held to deepen strategies for obtaining competitive funding in the future.

We will continue to actively support recipients in the future.

Report on the 4^th Startup Seminar

The 4^th Startup Seminar was held on Monday, November 25^th.
This time, the seminar was titled “Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Academia Roundtable,” and participants discussed how research professors and startups should interact with pharmaceutical manufacturers from the perspectives of pharmaceutical manufacturers and academia. It was a very meaningful seminar, as we were able to hear specific and frank opinions about challenges and ideal situations regarding collaboration with pharmaceutical manufacturers.

Report on the 3^rd Startup Seminar

The 3^rd Startup Seminar was held on Tuesday, November 5th.
This time, we held a VC capitalist roundtable discussion, with Mikio Kawahara of Utokyo Innovation Platform Co., Ltd., Hiroyuki Hasegawa of Mitsubishi UFJ Capital Co., Ltd., and Hajime Oshita of Medventure partners,Inc.. They discussed what kind of healthcare startups VCs are looking for and what points to consider when evaluating them.

Panel Discussion Report [ BioJapan2024 ]

On Friday, October 11^th, we co-hosted a panel discussion with the Life Science Incubation Council at BioJapan, featuring life science industry associations from Japan, the US, the UK, and Canada.
This time, we invited representatives from Newsight Tech Angels (Japan), Life Science Nation (US), MedCity (UK), and BioQuebec (Canada), which have long supported the globalization of startups around the world, to discuss how startups should utilize industry associations and partners in each country to advance globalization.

Report on the 3rd Progress Report Meeting of the PI Development Program

On Friday, October 4th, the third progress report meeting of the PI Development Program was held.
Three of the nine researchers selected for the PI Development Program gave presentations on the progress of their research, and there was lively discussion between the organizers and other recipients.

The next general meeting, including the recipients and organizers of the PI Development Program, is scheduled to be held on-site (January 2025).

Report on participating in the ” Pre-EXPO Medical care in the Future “

On Friday, September 27th, we participated in the “Future Medical Pre-EXPO” held at Nakanoshima Qross. This international event aims to promote the potential and efforts of life sciences in Osaka and Kansai to the Kansai Consul General and industry, as well as to deepen exchanges between overseas stakeholders and companies.
At this event, PL Mochizuki gave a presentation as the leader of the Biocommunity Kansai (BiocK) Subcommittee on Digital Biohealth. We also exhibited posters promoting the COI-NEXT program (NCVC).

We exhibited at the 83^rd Annual Meeting of the Japanese Cancer Association, held from September 19^th to 21^st, and promoted the Kento Imaging Support Center.

Startup Seminar [Special Edition] Report

On Wednesday, September 18th, we held a “Startup Seminar [Special Edition]”.
This time, we invited speakers representing Mayo Clinic, the world’s largest non-profit, comprehensive medical group in the United States, to speak about collaboration between the hospital and Japanese companies, and support for Japanese startups expanding into the US.In addition to clinical work, Mayo Clinic is engaged in a variety of research programs, translational research, and building an ecosystem for medical startups.

This time, more than 50 people participated, even though the event was held early in the morning.

COI-NEXT (NCVC) x LSIC 2024 Results Reporting Session

On Thursday, September 5th, the “2024 Results Reporting Session” was held at the National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center as part of our support for startup creation.
This time, the session was co-hosted with the Life Science Incubation Council (LSIC) and was held in a hybrid format, both on-site and online. The content of the session provided a deeper understanding of the importance of overseas ecosystems and collaborative networks, and lively exchanges of opinions took place in a very successful environment.

We will continue to work with LSIC to provide support with an awareness of collaboration with overseas companies.

FY2024 Startup Creation Support Site Visit and Event Report

On Thursday, September 5th, a site visit for the “2024 Startup Creation/Growth Promotion Support” was held at the National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center.
This time, the event was held in a hybrid format, combining on-site and online sessions, and representatives from the JST and MEXT participated, resulting in a lively exchange of opinions.

After the site visit, as part of the startup support efforts, Toru Seo (Newsight Tech Angels Inc.) was invited to hold a mentoring event for those selected for the support project. Specific discussions were held on commercialization, including how to capture the market, marking an important step towards future business development.

Based on the advice we received, we will continue to work hard towards further development of our base.

Report on the 1st Startup Seminar

The “1st Startup Seminar” was held on Wednesday, August 28th.
This time, we had Mr. Nao Yoshizawa give a lecture titled “ Shikujiri Sensei.‘’ He taught me the basics of learning from past mistakes and building a strong business strategy without repeating the same mistakes.
Although the event was held only online due to the typhoon, more than 50 people participated.
The Startup Seminar will be held in a series of 5 sessions, so please join us next time.
